Abstract

This article is trying to think of the actuality of the University Reform legacy, in the context of Latin American political process. We suggest a tour of the place occupied by the “university autonomy” as alleged defense of that legacy against the advancement of the populism, mainly exemplifying with the history of Peronism in Argentina. We also suggest that on many occasions in its history and present, Peronism sought to dispute that legacy as part of its ideology.
